I start at 25 yards (the closest board at the club rifle range) shooting at a big target or staple 4 sheets of paper on the board to make a large one. You can get it bore sighted as a pre check. Now you are only guessing!! Take it out and shoot the darn thing before you shim it. They said max use is 3 shims in order to not bend the tube, 2 shims will correct my POI.I would hope they know what they're talking about. If the scope tube bends or screws up it's lifetime warranty, can't deny my claim if it's based on advice they told me to do. I spoke to Leupold for 10 mins explaining the situation exactly, they said it needed to be shimmed in the rear. Yea I realize it's counter-intuitive adjustments. Trust me no sense in wasting time and ammo bringing it to the range when you can clearly see it is way off through boresighting. Yea I moved the reticle down, the POI up but it's not enough to make the two jive. I would shoot the rifle before I went any farther. Up on the dial move retical down, right adjustment moves retical left. Everything is backwards on the scope when your bore sighting. Your gun would be shooting low, not high. Just thought of something. If you said you lowered your scope adjustment to move the x-hairs down, you were actually cranking the elevation up on your dial. I would try again at 100yrds personally, and shoot the rifle to really see if you have a problem. Are you positive the rear base doesnt have something under it? That would cause your issue. Burris Z signature rings, have tapered inserts to gain the needed elevation for the front of your scope. When you lower your scope adjustment, the horizontal retical is moving towards the top of the scope. Leupold told you correct, if your scope wont allow you to shoot low enough, you need to raise the front.Just like the long range guys need to raise the rear, in order to gain elevation.

BTW Leupold customer service was super helpful and shipped the shims for free Won't shimming the front base of the mount (its a 2 piece Leupold STD mount) make the problem worse, or am I not thinking about this correctly?Īny help would be appreciated.

I then adjusted the scopes elevation down until it was at the base and it looks like it's *about* where it needs to be to be in line with the bore, but I'm out of downward travel on my scope.Ĭalled Leupold they said I need to shim the front base with one shim.

I look through the scope and it's on the same telephone pole but about 4 foot off the base of it. I sighted it through the bore on the very bottom of a telephone pole about 200yds away. Guys, got a new Redfield Revolution new in box today, mounted it on my gun and took out the bolt to boresight it.
